In conversation with RAMPA’s editor in chief, Monika Adamski, Congresswoman Malliotakis reflects on her relationship with Polish American Community – she underscores the similarities in stories of many Polish immigrants, and that of her mother, who fled communist regime in Cuba.

Congresswoman Malliotakis presents her stance on migrant crisis in New York City as well as her opinion on Mayor Eric Adams’ response to the crisis. Congresswoman says that migrant crisis has not improved in New York City, because there are still people committing criminal activity – she actually believes, the situation is getting worse.

Congresswoman says, the crisis is a result of actions by Biden-Harris administration, but she also believes that New York City and New York State incentivizes migrants to come over. Congresswoman comments on Adams administration’s response to the crisis: she says Mayor misinterpreted the ‘Sanctuary City’ policy and also, she says, that Mayor should issue executive order that cancels the ‘Sanctuary City’ policy. Congresswoman says, that Adams’ administration has not reached out to her about this issue. She added she knows that Adams opposes sanctuary city policies, but he has to work with “radical-left” City Council that does not want changes in this matter.

She also says, she is still waiting to receive statistics from NYPD, regarding crime committed within close proximity of city-run migrant shelters.

Congresswoman Malliotakis says that Mayor Adams does not have a good relationship with Biden administration. Asked about recent remarks by Donald Trump about Eric Adams, Congresswoman Malliotakis says she believes that if elected, Trump and Adams will form a better working relationship for the City of New York.

Congresswoman Malliotakis also talks about her efforts to improve safety of New Yorkers in her district, by, among other initiatives, securing more funding for the police.

Congresswoman also talks about her efforts to tackle the issue of organized mail theft totaling $1 billion in check fraud across the country. According to Congresswoman, the issue that has led to over 4 million in tax refunds, social security & veterans benefits being stolen in NY’s 11th district alone. Monika Adamski asked Congresswoman about this topic, referring to Polish mail carrier being robbed at gunpoint in Maspeth in July 2024. According to NYPD, as of October 31, 2024, the suspect has still not been caught.

At the end, Congresswoman is asked: what message you would like to leave people with before the important election day – November 5?
