The 66th Gala of the NYPD-Pulaski-Association – the association of officers of Polish and Slavic orgins within the NYPD – was organized in the beautiful Leonard’s banquet hall on April 12, 2024.
The Man of the Year award was given to NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, present at the gala. The Woman of the Year award was received by Rebecca Weiner, Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism at the NYPD proud of her Polish heritage.
The Michael Buczek Medal of Valor, awarded by the NYPD Pulaski Association, was awarded to Detective Robert Zając, a first-class detective in the NYPD.
Friends of the organization were also honored, and Mrs. Krystyna Naprawa, a school crossing guard who died tragically on duty in October 2023, was posthumously honored.
It was the first gala organized by the newly sworn-in board of directors of the NYPD Pulaski Association, with the organization’s new president, Lt. Martha Byrd, at the helm.
According to official statistics, the NYPD employs over 600 people who claim to be of Polish descent – although the actual number is certainly higher.

66. Gala NYPD-Pulaski-Association – stowarzyszenia oficerów w NYPD polskiego i słowiańskiego pochodzenia – została zorganizowana w przepięknej sali bankietowej Leonard’s, 12 kwietnia 2024 roku.
Wyróżnienie Man of the Year otrzymał obecny na gali Komisarz NYPD Edward Caban. Wyróżnienie Woman of the Year odebrała polskiego pochodzenia, Rebecca Weiner, Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism w NYPD.
Przyznawane przez NYPD Pulaski Association, wyróżnienie o nazwie Michael Buczek Medal of Valor, otrzymał detektyw Robert Zając, detektyw pierwszego stopnia w NYPD.
Wyróżnieni zostali również przyjaciele organizacji, a pośmiertnie uhonorowana została Pani Krystynę Naprawa, strażniczka przejścia dla pieszych, która zginęła na służbie tragicznie w październiku 2023 roku.
Była to pierwsza gala zorganizowana przez nowo zaprzysiężoną radę dyrektorów NYPD Pulaski Association, z nowym prezesem organizacji, porucznik Martą Byrd na czele.
Zgodnie ze oficjalnymi statystykami, w NYPD zatrudnionych jest ponad 600 osób, które przyznają się do swojego polskiego pochodzenia – choć rzeczywisty numer jest na pewno wyższy.
